I have to say how much I love to travel. It is what makes life exciting. You know what life is like after Christmas. It is blah, blah, blah. The weather is cold and depressing. Usually here in Utah there is an inversion in place. So when my girls were off-track, Mark got some unusual days off and Westley was out of school for Martin Luther Day and the next, I got a wild hair and said, "Let's go to Disneyland!"

That is what we did with under a week of planning. All the stars lined up so I knew it was the right thing to do. The high pressure we were in causing the inversion and smog in Utah was the same high pressure in California. After a few Santa Ana winds, the smog there was gone and the 83 degree temperatures were in place. Incredibly unusual and beautiful sunny weather was enjoyed by us.

I got an awesome deal through priceline for the Knottsberry Farms Resort Hotel ($42.00/night) which had a free shuttle to Disneyland, so we did both parks. I got an amazing $6 a night in Primm, NV so stopping halfway home was great and I splurged on TWO rooms- NICE! We checked out Huntington Beach and played at Disneyland and Knotts Berry Farm.

The kids were incredibly good on the drive down (bribing Westley money for each hour he was good and didn't tease his sister worked and was well worth it) and mostly good on the way back.

It was a perfect, but fast trip. Gas prices were down and all our spirits went way up. We are glad we did it and hope for another good trip soon!

January would be a great time to go to Disneyland I would think. Especially if you end up with shorts weather as it appears you had. I'm a big planner pants when it comes to trips but I do think it would be fun to be spontaneous like that some time. Maybe when my kids are older?
